Nestled along the picturesque banks of the River Tweed, Castle Vale House is a delightful Victorian retreat that exudes warmth and charm. My recent stay with a close friend was marked by the stunning views from our spacious room, where sunlight danced through the windows, framing the magnificent Stephenson Viaduct. Margaret, our gracious host, welcomed us with open arms, immediately making us feel right at home as she regaled us with local knowledge over a delicious breakfast of homemade bread and jams – a true homage to the culinary traditions I so cherish. The strategic location, just a 10-minute stroll along the scenic riverside path to Berwick-upon-Tweed's town center, makes it an ideal base for exploring the area’s rich history and natural beauty. Whether you're keen on cycling through the North Northumberland coast or walking along the tranquil Tweed, Castle Vale House offers an idyllic gateway, with the added luxury of impending journeys to Edinburgh or Newcastle just a hour away by train. I can't recommend this charming getaway highly enough; it has truly captured my heart, promising a memorable return.
